U.S. Orders Global Embassy Security Reviews After سلسلة of Strikes on Diplomatic Sites

State Department issues urgent directive as escalating attacks in the Middle East raise concerns over safety of American missions worldwide
The United States has instructed all of its embassies worldwide to immediately review and strengthen security measures following a سلسلة of recent strikes targeting American diplomatic facilities, particularly across the Middle East.

The directive from Washington comes amid a rapidly intensifying security environment, after multiple incidents involving drones, rockets, and missiles struck or threatened U.S. diplomatic sites in the region.

Among the most serious was an attack on the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad, where defensive systems intercepted several incoming drones, though at least one device caused damage within the complex.

Additional incidents have affected other U.S. missions, including facilities in Saudi Arabia and nearby Gulf states, where drone strikes triggered fires and prompted emergency responses.

In several countries, American personnel have been advised to shelter in place, while non-essential staff and citizens have been urged to depart due to heightened risks.

Officials have emphasized that the safety of American personnel and citizens remains the highest priority, with the global review aimed at ensuring embassies are fully prepared to respond to evolving threats.

The measures include reassessing physical security infrastructure, emergency protocols, and coordination with host nations.

The surge in attacks is closely tied to broader regional tensions, as U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iranian-linked targets have triggered retaliatory actions by armed groups aligned with Tehran.

These groups have intensified efforts to strike U.S. assets, viewing diplomatic missions as high-profile targets.

Washington’s response reflects a coordinated and proactive approach, combining enhanced security precautions with continued diplomatic engagement.

The administration has also reinforced military presence in the region to deter further attacks and protect critical infrastructure.

While embassies remain operational in most locations, officials acknowledge that the situation remains fluid, with security conditions subject to rapid change.

The global review is expected to lead to additional protective measures in vulnerable regions, as the United States adapts to an increasingly volatile security landscape.
