Trump Vows Broader Strikes on Iran While Preparing to Honor Fallen U.S. Troops
President says American casualties will be remembered as military campaign expands against Iranian targets
President Donald Trump has announced plans to honor American service members killed in the ongoing war with Iran while signaling that the United States will widen the scope of its military campaign against Iranian targets.
The president confirmed that several U.S. troops were killed during the early stages of the conflict, marking the first American fatalities since the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iranian military infrastructure.
The service members were killed during an Iranian drone attack on a U.S. military installation in Kuwait, where American forces were supporting regional operations.
Trump said the fallen soldiers would be remembered as heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the United States and its allies.
He indicated that he would personally pay tribute to the troops during ceremonies honoring their service, emphasizing national unity and gratitude for those serving in uniform.
At the same time, the president warned that the conflict is entering a more intense phase.
He stated that additional Iranian targets are now under consideration as the United States continues operations designed to dismantle Iran’s military capabilities and prevent further attacks on American forces and regional partners.
The military campaign, conducted jointly with Israel, has already involved extensive strikes on Iranian command centers, missile facilities and infrastructure linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
U.S. military officials say the objective is to degrade Iran’s ability to conduct missile and drone attacks across the region.
Iran has responded with retaliatory strikes targeting U.S. positions and allied facilities in several Middle Eastern countries, raising fears that the conflict could spread further.
Regional governments have activated air defenses and heightened security around strategic infrastructure, including ports, embassies and oil facilities.
The deaths of American service members have underscored the risks of the expanding confrontation.
Trump acknowledged that additional casualties may occur as operations continue but insisted that the campaign is necessary to confront threats posed by Iran’s military activities.
Senior U.S. military officials say the operation remains focused on strategic targets and is designed to limit Iran’s capacity to launch further attacks.
Additional forces have been deployed to the Middle East as part of a broader effort to protect American personnel and maintain stability in the region.
As the conflict intensifies, Washington has emphasized that the campaign will continue until its objectives are achieved, while honoring the service and sacrifice of the troops who have already lost their lives in the fight.
