X Experiences Major Outage Affecting Thousands of Users
Significant disruptions across the platform reported in India on Monday evening.
X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, experienced a major outage on Monday evening, affecting users primarily in India.
The disruptions began around 9:00 PM IST and persisted for approximately one hour, with many users reporting difficulties in accessing the service.
Downdetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, indicated that users experienced multiple outages throughout the day, with peaks around 3:00 PM and again at 7:30 PM. At these times, reports of issues surged to nearly 2,200 and 1,500 from users in India, respectively.
The tracking service reported that a significant percentage of the problems, approximately 52%, were related to issues with the website, while 41% were linked to problems with the mobile application and 8% were attributed to server connection troubles.
The exact nature of the outage has not been detailed by the platform's management, and there has been no official statement regarding the cause of the disruptions.
However, the service was restored by 10:30 PM, successfully bringing the platform back online for its users.
Elon Musk completed the acquisition of X in 2022 for $44 billion, following a series of changes aimed at revamping the platform since his takeover.
