Allan Lichtman Attributes Incorrect 2024 Election Prediction to Disinformation and Elon Musk
Renowned Political Scientist Revisits His Forecasting Method After Predicting Kamala Harris's Win
Allan Lichtman, a distinguished professor at American University known for his track record of accurately predicting nine out of the last ten US presidential elections, has attributed his recent incorrect forecast of a 2024 Kamala Harris victory to an 'explosion' of disinformation and the influence of billionaire Elon Musk.
In a discussion with News Nation, Lichtman expressed concerns about the role of conservative media and Musk, who actively supported Donald Trump's campaign with both financial backing and promotion via his platform, X (formerly Twitter).
Lichtman claims disinformation on issues such as immigration and the war in Ukraine reached unprecedented levels, partly due to Musk's involvement.
He also reflected on possibly revising his prediction methodology, the 'Keys to the White House,' which relies on a historical index model using 13 true-false statements about the incumbent president's party.
Lichtman suggests that his model might need adjustments considering the substantial influence of misinformation, potentially skewing electoral decision-making.
