Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently facing considerable political turmoil following the issuance of an arrest warrant for Milorad Dodik, the President of the Republika Srpska (RS), which is the Serb-majority entity in the nation.

On March 12, 2025, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Prosecutor's Office announced the warrant, citing Dodik's disregard for the nation's constitutional court and his advocacy for laws that weaken state institutions.

The situation became more contentious after the National Assembly of the RS ratified a draft of a new constitution, which would confer sovereign powers to the entity, allowing it to create its own military and judicial system.

This action is viewed as a move towards secession and a possible alignment with Serbia, calling into question the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement that concluded the Bosnian War.
