A 73-year-old British woman has died following a jet ski accident while vacationing in the Bahamas.

The incident occurred on Saturday at RelaxAway, a popular beach area on Half Moon Cay, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

The victim, who has not been publicly identified, reportedly lost control of her jet ski and collided with a rock.

She held dual nationality, being a British and Czechoslovakian citizen, and was a passenger aboard the Holland America Line cruise ship, Nieuw Amsterdam, which had docked at the private island as part of a 14-day Caribbean itinerary.

Emergency services were alerted to the scene, and medical personnel were dispatched to provide assistance.

Despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by a local doctor.

Holland America Line has since released a statement confirming the incident and expressing condolences.
