Erika Kirk Elected CEO of Turning Point USA After Husband Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

Widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk unanimously chosen to lead TPUSA amid surge in youth engagement and calls to continue his legacy
Erika Frantzve Kirk has been unanimously elected as CEO and Chair of the Board of Turning Point USA following the fatal shooting of her husband, Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative activist and founder of the organization.

Charlie Kirk was killed on September 10, 2025 during a campus event at Utah Valley University when 22-year-old Tyler Robinson allegedly fired a single rifle shot from a rooftop.

Erika, 36, has pledged to carry on her husband’s mission to mobilize young Americans around conservative and Christian values.

The board’s appointment comes at a critical moment for Turning Point USA as it prepares for its role in the upcoming midterm elections, with growing interest from students nationwide.

In the days since Charlie Kirk’s death, the organization reported tens of thousands of requests from high school and college students wanting to affiliate or start new chapters.

Erika Kirk has committed to making Turning Point USA “the biggest thing this nation has ever seen,” and has stated that her husband had previously expressed the wish that she succeed him in such a tragic eventuality.

Erika’s background includes work in media, nonprofit causes, fashion, and faith-based initiatives.

She was Miss Arizona USA in 2012, hosts a podcast called "Midweek Rise Up," and founded a nonprofit, Everyday Heroes Like You.

She and Charlie were married in 2021 and had two young children.

In public statements and video addresses since the shooting, she has invoked her husband's Christian faith, called for continued activism, and asserted that his message will grow louder in the face of adversity.

Authorities have arrested and charged Tyler Robinson with aggravated murder in connection with the killing.

President Donald Trump has credited Charlie Kirk with helping boost young voter turnout and has expressed support for Erika’s leadership.

Turning Point USA’s board issued a tribute stating that Charlie Kirk “prepared all of us for a moment like this one” and built the organization to endure even its greatest tests.

Erika Kirk is set to speak at a memorial event in Arizona alongside high-profile figures including Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.
