Michael Jeffries, the former CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch, has been arrested on charges related to a sex-trafficking operation, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.
Jeffries was taken into custody by federal agents in Florida as part of an investigation spearheaded by prosecutors based in Brooklyn, New York.
Abercrombie & Fitch did not comment on the matter, and Jeffries could not be reached for remarks.
This arrest follows a lawsuit filed last year by David Bradberry, a former aspiring model, in Manhattan's federal court.
The lawsuit alleges that Jeffries coerced models into taking drugs and participating in sexual acts with promises of being featured in Abercrombie's catalogs.
It also claims that company executives were aware of Jeffries' actions and that the company had paid settlements to individuals accusing Jeffries of sexual misconduct.
Jeffries led Abercrombie & Fitch from 1992 to 2014, a period during which the retailer became popular among teens due to its branding and advertising.
He resigned in 2014 amid changing trends that the company struggled to keep up with.
