Rudy Giuliani Ordered to Surrender Manhattan Apartment to Georgia Election Workers
Rudy Giuliani must turn over his Manhattan apartment and other assets to Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss after losing a defamation lawsuit. The court order also includes handing over watches, furniture, and sports memorabilia, and relates to false claims Giuliani made about their involvement in vote tampering during the 2020 election. Giuliani has faced multiple legal and financial challenges, including his disbarment and bankruptcy.
A federal judge has ordered Rudy Giuliani to hand over his Manhattan apartment and other assets to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, two Georgia election workers, following a defamation suit in which they were awarded over $140 million.
Giuliani, a former attorney for Donald Trump, falsely accused Freeman and Moss of vote tampering in the 2020 election.
In addition to the apartment, the court's order includes Giuliani's watches, furniture, sports memorabilia, and potential payments of $2 million from Trump's 2020 campaign owed to Giuliani.
Freeman and Moss sought to seize Giuliani's assets including properties in New York and Florida, luxury watches, a Mercedes-Benz, and New York Yankees World Series rings.
Some possessions, including the apartment, must be surrendered within a week, though the judge has deferred judgment on certain items.
Giuliani's legal troubles have also led to the loss of his legal credentials and participation in ongoing criminal proceedings related to election interference, alongside his filing for bankruptcy last year.
