Saudi Leaders Congratulate Trump on Election Victory
Saudi King and Crown Prince Extol US-Saudi Relations
King Salman of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman extended their congratulations to Donald Trump following his election win, as reported by Saudi state media.
Both leaders emphasized their desire to strengthen the robust relations between the two nations.
During Trump's initial presidency, he fostered strong ties with Saudi Arabia, evident in his first overseas visit to Riyadh in 2017.
Although the relationship experienced tension following attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure, it improved under the Biden administration, which sought a significant agreement involving Saudi recognition of Israel.
The arrangement stalled following conflict in Gaza in October.
Nonetheless, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan recently indicated potential for progress on bilateral accords with the U.S., despite the larger deal remaining uncertain.
