Taylor Swift Secures Temporary Restraining Order Against Alleged Stalker
The singer seeks legal protection following multiple unwanted visits and concerning behavior from an individual claiming a personal relationship.
Taylor Swift has obtained a temporary restraining order against an individual identified as Brian Jason Wagner, aged 45, from Colorado.
The restraining order comes amid allegations that Wagner made several visits to Swift’s residence in Los Angeles, starting from July 2024 and extending to May 2025. According to court documents submitted by Swift, Wagner allegedly made numerous false statements regarding his relationship with her, claiming to live at her property and to have a child with her.
In her filing, Swift articulated that his assertions were 'not true and disconnected from reality.'
The court documents detail a specific incident where Wagner was said to have been in possession of a glass bottle, which Swift suggested had the potential to be used as a weapon.
She expressed in her filing that the situation caused her to feel fearful for both her safety and that of her family.
As part of the restraining order, Wagner is required to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Swift.
A subsequent hearing is scheduled for June 30, during which a more permanent order may be established.
Taylor Swift has previously dealt with numerous stalking incidents.
Notably, in 2017, a man named Mohammed Jaffar, aged 29, was placed in a psychiatric facility in New York after he made repeated calls to Swift's management and later entered her apartment building in Tribeca.
In another instance in 2018, Roger Alvarado broke into Swift's home, utilized her shower, and slept in her bed; he was imprisoned for nine months, followed by a lengthier sentence due to another break-in.
That same year, a man named Julius Sandrock was apprehended after traveling over 1,000 miles to Swift's residence, carrying with him weapons and other threatening items.
In the years following, six other individuals were convicted of stalking Swift, including a 2020 incident where a man crashed his vehicle into her apartment complex while attempting to gain access.
In related news, Swift recently announced her acquisition of the master recordings for her first six albums.
These recordings were previously sold by her original record label, Big Machine, to music manager Scooter Braun, who subsequently sold them to a private equity firm in 2019. Swift responded by embarking on a project to re-record her albums, achieving significant commercial success with each new release.
The specifics of the recent deal to buy back her masters remain undisclosed, but Swift emphasized her long-held desire for complete ownership of her music without any external control.
