British Couple Found Dead in Wellington Suburb Following Recent Relocation
Authorities conduct investigation after the discovery of the couple in their home in Roseneath, New Zealand.
A British couple was found deceased at their residence in Roseneath, a beachside suburb of Wellington, New Zealand, following a welfare check prompted by a concerned family member.
The couple, who have not yet been publicly identified, had relocated to New Zealand late last year to begin a new chapter in their lives.
Detective Inspector Haley Ryan from the New Zealand Police stated that there is currently no suspicion of foul play, and they are not looking for any other individuals connected to the incident.
Following a thorough examination of the scene and additional inquiries, the case will be referred to the Coroner for further investigation.
Post-mortem examinations were conducted on the day the bodies were discovered.
Police are maintaining an ongoing presence in the area as they seek to determine the circumstances surrounding the couple's deaths.
In statements regarding the incident, the couple's landlord described them as "my British lodgers," emphasizing their enthusiasm for life and adventure.
The landlord stated, "Both they and their family lived life to the absolute full and were always planning or doing amazing adventures.”
Local resident Emma Prestidge conveyed that the couple had recently made the transition from London and were in the process of setting up their life in New Zealand.
She shared that their belongings were still in a shipping container and that they anticipated starting this new phase of their lives.
The New Zealand Police have urged members of the public with any information that might assist in the ongoing investigation to come forward, particularly those who may possess residential CCTV footage capturing traffic movements in the Roseneath area.
Both the Foreign Office in the UK and the New Zealand Coroner's Office have been contacted for further comments regarding the case.
