Former Employee Shoots Boss, Causes Subway Chaos in NYC
Shooting Causes Subway Shutdown as Suspect Remains At Large
On a hectic Wednesday morning on New York City’s Upper West Side, a former employee shot his ex-boss and fled into the subway tunnels, causing widespread disruption.
The incident occurred at West 69th Street and Columbus Avenue around 9:20 am when the suspect, a recently dismissed remote worker from Lincoln Business Machines Incorporated, confronted the 47-year-old victim, shooting him in the shoulder and leg.
The victim is stable at St. Luke's Hospital.
Following the shooting, the suspect, described as a man in his 40s, escaped into the 72nd Street subway station, hiding under a train.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, and a stray bullet damaged a nearby apartment building’s door.
The incident caused significant disruptions on several subway lines, including the C train, where passengers were evacuated and filmed crouching in dark tunnels.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority suspended C trains and reported delays on A, D, B, and E lines.
As of the latest reports, the gunman remains at large, described as wearing a black hoodie, green jacket, and tan pants, armed with a black firearm.
The attack is believed to stem from financial disagreements with his former employer.
