Historic Appointment by President-elect Donald Trump
US President-elect Donald Trump announced on Thursday that Susie Wiles, his campaign manager, will serve as the White House chief of staff, marking the first time a woman holds this position in US history.
Wiles, 67, played a pivotal role in Trump's victories in the 2016 and 2020 elections.
Trump, aged 78, praised Wiles as 'tough, smart, innovative', and noted her universal respect.
The announcement was made two days after Trump defeated Democrat Kamala Harris in the presidential election.
US Vice President-elect JD Vance endorsed the decision, calling Wiles a 'huge asset'.
Susie Wiles, born on May 14, 1957, is the daughter of sportscaster Pat Summerall and has a long history in political strategy.
Her career includes roles in Ronald Reagan's 1980 campaign and assisting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in 2018.
She previously advised Trump in his 2016 and 2020 campaigns.
