Israeli Leaflet Campaign in Gaza: A Critical Update

Israeli planes dropped leaflets over southern Gaza with an image of dead Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and a message asserting that Hamas will no longer rule Gaza. The leaflet promised safety for those surrendering their weapons and releasing hostages. This coincided with Israeli military strikes killing at least 35 people across Gaza, while Gaza health officials reported more than 42,500 Palestinian deaths in the ongoing conflict.
On Saturday, Israeli planes distributed leaflets over southern Gaza displaying an image of deceased Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar with a message stating 'Hamas will no longer rule Gaza,' a message resonating with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's rhetoric.

This action coincided with Israeli military strikes across the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of at least 35 individuals and heightened tensions around hospitals in Jabalia in northern Gaza.

The leaflet, echoing a statement by Netanyahu, extended an offer of safety to those who discard their weapons and release hostages.

Sinwar had orchestrated an attack on Israeli communities on October 7 last year, which resulted in approximately 1,200 casualties and over 250 hostages taken back to Gaza.

The ongoing conflict has claimed over 42,500 Palestinian lives, with substantial numbers unaccounted for beneath debris, according to Gaza health authorities.

In central Gaza, strikes in Al-Maghzai, Nuseirat, Khan Younis, and Rafah resulted in numerous casualties.

The Israeli military remains firm in its operations, targeting Hamas infrastructure and encircling key northern areas like Jabalia with evacuation orders while denying a strategy to displace civilians.

Gaza health officials report an intensified assault on the health system, notably targeting hospitals such as Indonesian, Kamal Adwan, and Al-Awda, leading to critical conditions for patients.

Despite Israeli military assurances to mitigate civilian harm, claims of hospital disruption are countered based on reports of ongoing operations.
