Greece Engages Israel for €2 Billion Defence 'Iron Dome' Project

Collaborative talks focus on modernizing Greece's military amidst regional tensions.
Greece is negotiating with Israel to develop a €2 billion anti-aircraft and missile defense system reminiscent of Israel's Iron Dome, as part of its strategic military modernization efforts post-debt crisis.

This initiative aligns with Greece's goal to bolster its defenses in response to Turkey's advancements in air defense systems.

According to sources informed by Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias, the plan aims to establish a multi-layered anti-aircraft and anti-drone shield.

Greece plans to invest €12.8 billion by 2035 to upgrade its armed forces, which includes acquiring new assets like F-35 jets and Belharra frigates.

Despite recent diplomatic improvements, Greece and Turkey remain at odds over regional issues such as Mediterranean energy resources and airspace rights.
