Tom Cruise attended CinemaCon in Las Vegas to promote the upcoming Mission: Impossible film.

Before discussing his impressive stunts, he paused to pay tribute to his friend and co-star Val Kilmer, who passed away at 65. The audience was asked to join him in a minute of silence to honor Kilmer's memory.

Cruise expressed his appreciation for Kilmer's work, stating that he was grateful when Kilmer joined the original Top Gun film and reprised his role in its sequel, Top Gun: Maverick.

The two actors first met on the set of Top Gun in 1986, playing rival pilots who become friends.

The film became a huge success, grossing $350 million worldwide and launching their international careers.

They reunited nearly four decades later when Kilmer reprised his role as Iceman in Top Gun: Maverick, which used artificial intelligence to recreate his voice after he lost the ability to speak due to throat cancer.

The sequel became an even bigger hit, earning $1.4 billion at the box office and six Oscar nominations.

A third film in the series is currently in development.
